Amini to join Dembare

FORMER Zimbabwe Under-23 captain Qadr Amini is on the verge of landing a big move to Premiership champions Dynamos as he seeks to revive his career in the capital after spending time at FC Platinum.

The left-back made a surprise appearance at the Glamour Boy yesterday and took part in drills at the B Arena under the watchful eyes of the new technical department led by David Mandigora.

Amini was joined at training yesterday by highly-rated ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer Star of the Year Zivanai Mhanda and Obey Mwerahari, who trained with the Harare giants for the first time.

The Glamour Boys are also looking to welcome last year's World Navi Northern Region Division One Golden Boot winner Kasimero Chimbadzwa at their training session today.

Amini's agent George Deda confirmed negotiations were at an advanced stage with the Harare giants.

"All I can tell you is Dynamos are very keen to engage him as their player this season. We have met with the coach and it looks very promising. At this moment nothing can stop the move unless something extraordinary happens. Qadr is a very good player and it seems the coaches are interested in having him in their books. I am sure he too is excited.

"It's not a secret that it's almost every local player's dream to play for a club like Dynamos. So if such an opportunity arises, you have to grab it with both hands," said Deda.

Amini's two-year contract with the platinum miners expired on December 31 and, despite the latest turn of events, there have been efforts to renew it.

The defender was even included in Kugona Kunenge Kudada's provisional squad which is preparing for the Confederation Cup.

"This move is not about the money because if you look at it FC Platinum are among the clubs that are financially stable in the domestic league," said Deda.

"I am sure Qadr will get his chance to shine at Dynamos. He was one of the most promising left-backs during his days as the Young Warriors' captain and I believe with more opportunities he can relaunch his career."

There was more good news for the DeMbare faithful with the coming in of Mwerahari, who is now set to buy out the remaining year on his contract with ZPC Kariba. ZPC Kariba have indicated that they will only clear the right-back if they get concrete guarantees for the US$6000 that is needed to terminate the contract. Dynamos are also keen to boost their strike-force amid indications that Washington Pakamisa could be moving to Mozambique while an agreement is yet to be reached with the other striker Roderick Mutuma.

"Chimbadzwa is a good striker. I think many people know him from his days at Black Mambas, but there's nothing at the moment as far as Zivanai is concerned.

"He is just training with us to keep fit. As you know he should soon be going for trials in Japan and is preparing for that.

"If it doesn't work out there and he is keen to join us, who are we to turn down a good player?" said team manager Richard Chihoro.

DeMbare also welcomed their Congolese forward Fabrice Mbimba who had asked to be excused when the team started training on Monday.

Chihoro said Mbimba was suffering from a stomach bug and has since recovered.
