Dynamos striker expected for trials at Ajax Cape Town

Dynamos striker expected for trials at Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town will have another Zimbabwean on trial with the arrival of Dynamos striker Rodreck Mutuma is expected to be on trial with Ajax Cape Town of South Africa.

Having missed out on the services of forward Abbas Amidu, who signed a three-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs last week, the Cape Town side is now running their eye over Mutuma, who made his national team debut for Zimbabwe against Botswana this past weekend.

The 23-year-old won the Golden Boot in the Zimbabwe Premier League in 2011, netting 14 times for his club as he helped them win the Championship in his maiden professional season.

The trial has been arranged by the player's agent, Edzai Kasinauyo, who has downplayed his client's chances of winning a contract in Cape Town just yet.

"Mutuma is a talented player, there is no doubt about that but he still needs to be looked at because he is a player who has potential," Kasinauyo told the Daily News.

"For me it's not the right time for him to leave but we are trying a lot of options. We are trying to look at what's best for him because we don't just want to throw him in at the deep end.

"It's an exposure kind of thing, not a trial. It's to help him build confidence ahead of the Champions League so that by the time he comes back he will be ready for the competition. He will remain a Dynamos player."
