More often in life than not, the small moments are the ones that matter most. Their preciousness might stem from the fact that if one is not aware and not sensitive to the seemingly normal, one misses them. But I'll leave that question to philosophers and other big thinkers.

I will just turn my amazement to the pictures I saw today all over the news. Our President, the President of Zimbabwe, an equal amongst equals, a brother amongst brethren, in the midst of all the African leaders. The era of isolationism and spite to the outside world of Mugabe is finally over! And not only did Emmerson Mnangagwa lead us back in the midst of the family of nations, he did so with a straight back and proudly wearing the colours of our beautiful nation around his neck!

One day, this might be part of our history books, taught in A-Levels, as the first milestone in the rebuilding of Zimbabwe. We all know that our economy needs the precious Forex to get back on its feet. Only investment, local and foreign, can provide the necessary funds needed in our monetary system. Going to China, no doubt one of the biggest investors on the current global scene, as central part of Africa, gives Zimbabwe a better hand negotiating deals than doing so only bilaterally. The unified force of all the members of the African family is needed to secure beneficial deals with China (and other parts of the world, too), and that's why it is so important to see President Mnangagwa right there, eye to eye with his colleagues.

A new dawn for Zimbabwe is approaching. The pictures from the summit are just the latest piece of evidence. One can only pray that this course of economic and diplomatic re-engagement will not be derailed by foes, and supported by our allies and friends in Africa and beyond.
