Granny nearly raped, neighbours come to rescue

Assailants are reported to be terrorising Masvingo province committing heinous crimes like murder, rape and robbery Bulawayo24.com has learnt.

Sources who spoke to Bulawayo24.com allege a grandmother in Rugora village cheated death in the wee hours of Tuesday after assailants pounced on her homestead only to be rescued by neighbours after she screamed for help.

"We are in serious trouble with notorious criminals here in Masvingo last night a grandmother (name withheld) was almost a victim of rape and murder after thugs armed pounced on her homestead, she had to cry for help there by awaking neighbours who rushed to enquire what was happening," revealed Zimuto.

"When she cried the thugs panicked and fled from the scene, this place Is now dangerous we are calling upon the police to tighten their security and the media to publish such cases in order to curb the trend."
 
Meanwhile, three notorious thugs facing several counts of rape, robbery and murder were arrested on Monday by police in Masvingo.
