President Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned home after a successful one day official visit to South Africa where his first port of call was at President Jacob Zuma's residence in Pretoria.

After the courtesy call, President Mnangagwa then attended a business meeting held at the Zimbabwe embassy offices, which was oversubscribed.

The head of state rounded off his visit by holding a meeting with the newly elected African National Congress (ANC) President Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, who is also the Current Vice President of South Africa.

The meeting between President Mnangagwa and Mr Ramaphosa was held at a hotel in Pretoria.

The revolutionary parties of Zanu PF and the ANC share strong relations that date back to the days of the liberation struggle.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr George Charamba said the two shared perspectives on various issues of mutual importance.

Mr Charamba said Mr Ramaphosa expressed his wish to visit Zimbabwe as a guest of Zanu PF.

Mr Ramaphosa also indicated that he would be visiting various sister parties in the region so as to cement the relationship between his party ANC and other revolutionary parties in the region.

Soon after the meeting, it was time for President Mnangagwa to return back home after his maiden official visit as head of state and government.

He was seen off at the Waterkloof Military Base Airport by South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Mrs Maite Nkoana Mashabane, Zimbabwe's ambassador to SA Mr Isaac Moyo and several officials from the SA government and Zimbabwe embassy staff in SA.

The President was received at the Robert Mugabe International Airport by Zanu PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, who is also Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Minister of State for Harare province Cde Miriam Chikukwa, Minister of Defence, Security and War Veterans Cde Kembo Mohadi, service chiefs and senior government officials.
