Through its commitment to assist the less- privileged in our society, Makokoba Health Care Initiative donated another two wheelchairs. The handover occasion which was held at Highlanders Club House on 23 May 2015 made a difference in the lives of the two beneficiaries. Millicent Ncube, a 14 year old girl, from rural Plumtree in Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe, is one of the recipients. She suffers from epilepsy, a condition that has seen her dropping out of school as there are no specialist schools in her rural area that cater for children with her condition. She lives with her maternal grandparents who are unemployed. Her situation was presented to MHCI, by her step-father, Mr Mandlenkosi Moyo, who is also unemployed but does menial jobs regularly. The wheelchair that she has been using was worn out, too small for her and rusted.

Another beneficiary is Melusi Khumalo, a 33 year old man from Bulawayo. Melusi is a fervent Highlanders Football Club supporter. He is always seen in all the club's matches both home and away. His friends and Highlanders supporters always push him around in his old wheelchair. Unemployed and financially incapacitated, he could not afford to replace his wheelchair.

The ceremony was attended by Melusi, his mother, Highlanders Football Club fraternity including players, officials and the club's chairman Ndumiso Gumede, the Heart and Soul Support Group, Millicent's step-father, who received the wheelchair on her behalf, as well as the Bulawayo representatives of MHCI Trust, Netsai Moyo and Siphiwe Mhlanga.

In a separate but related occasion, another wheelchair was donated to Tafirei Mhlanga (28) of Mashame in the Gokwe area. Tafirei's legs were amputed after suffering from severe fire burns. He is also epileptic.

These donations were made possible through the generous donation of Sharon O'Connor the manager of Merrill House Care Home in Derby in the UK.

Simba Nyakudziwanza, a former Amazulu Football Club player, presented MHCI Trust's activities to Sharon.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to everyone who made these donations a reality.
