Police in Harare have arrested an Epworth man on allegations of sexually abusing 10 school boys under the guise of training them to be boy scouts.

According to national police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi, between November and December 2014, Blessmore Hove (25) allegedly abused the trust thrust on him by school authorities in Epworth to conduct a Boy Scout Training Programme and turned the minors into his "pornographic actors to fulfil shameless sexual bliss".

The police said Hove, during the Boy Scout training programmes, would order the boys to undress in order to thrill his lust before he would sexually exploit them.

"Investigations have revealed that the accused would invite the minors aged between nine and 14 years for night camping episodes where he would order them to strip naked in darkness and then go on to sexually abuse the boys," Nyathi said.

"We want to reiterate that those who abuse the trust bestowed on them by parents to look after their children as they engage in various activities will be severely dealt with in terms of the law," he said.

"Police are urging parents and guardians to monitor all recreational activities their children will be taking part in and ensure their lives are not put at risk".
