Alick Macheso's secret baby!

Alick Macheso and wife, Tafadzwa, have a new baby. So new is the baby that by the time of going to press, the baby was yet to be named.

Born last night, the baby girl comes as a huge surprise to many as Tafadzwa's pregnancy had not been made public.

"I decided to keep it a secret. We said to the family, let us keep quiet about this development and with Mai Junior's (Tafadzwa) built, the secret lived to this day," said a visibly jubilant Macheso.

So excited was Macheso that he was willing to discuss anything. From the qualities and strengths of all his children to his humanitarian role even to his feelings about the so-called Rebels Band.

"I was coming from the airport where I had accompanied visitors from UK. There was Daine Moody, the programme support manager, Africa International Division for Red Cross and Paul Jenkins, the head of Partnership Development International and I headed straight here where (Tafadzwa) had been admitted yesterday (Wednesday).

"She came here with Mai Sharo - you know how those two are the best of friends? They came together and Junior (Alick Macheso Junior - Tafadzwa's first child with Macheso) is at home with Mai Sharo as we speak. They (his two wives - Nyadzisai and Tafadzwa) have bonded well from day one and it has made my family a unit. Pane uyu ndopana uyu. Any they don't have many other friends. When Mai Junior leaves home, she is going to maiguru. When someone tries to come in-between them, they combine against that person and ask her about the issue as a pair. Vavengi (haters) have realised that and they have decided to let them play by themselves.

"The children all love each other as well. Sharon loves junior soooo much. Junior's mother has to beg kuti 'chimbondipaiwo mwana!' and when he goes to the mother, after five minutes he is saying 'Bye'. When she asks where he is going, the answer is always TAYO (baby language for Sharo). There is just so much love in this family. And everyone wanted to be here when they heard there was a new girl at Baines Clinic, but they had to stay ah home because, for now, only husbands are allowed.

"I am so happy and I want to thank the Lord. Talk of what the Almighty is doing for me this year," said Macheso as he was impatiently waiting outside Baines hospital.

Macheso stayed with his new daughter (after Sharon, Melissa, Monalisa and Stacey) and the proud mother for a good half an hour as this news crew waited for him to address them.

"I only left when the nurses said they have to bath the baby and conduct a few tests. She is a big and beautiful baby and weighed a good 3.8kg at birth. The mother is overjoyed. She now has a boy (Junior) and this new girl whom we shall name soon. She is so happy!" said Macheso as he failed to notice that he was so happy either.

The musician said Tafadzwa has surprised many by giving birth to, not only her latest baby, but Junior as well.

"She had lived a long time from her previous marriage until we met without children and many were convinced that she was sterile but we met and now she has two kids," said the sungura great.

Macheso added that the latest baby brings to eight, the children he has as he also has two other boys in Macnulty and Tatenda. He believes he has nurtured them well and some will grow into great musicians. He also talked about each one's strengths, the people he is grateful to in his life, his love for helping others, what he fells about the rebels and so much more.

Today, however, Macheso is back to work as he holds a show at New Life.

"We will celebrate the new baby with whoever comes tomorrow (today)," said the jolly father.
