A one-year-old baby in Mutare was killed after an iron rod fell on her at a produce market in Sakubva.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Leonard Chabata confirmed the incident, which occurred last Tuesday evening.

He said Joyce Mubure was playing with other children at the market while her grandmother kept watch from a distance.

It is said an iron rod fell on the child from a nearby chicken cage. She later died from the injuries sustained.
