National Patriotic Front Spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire has refuted claims by one Enock Muteveri Sithole on Sunday Mail that he was one of the founding members of the popular crocodile gang.

In an interview with Sunday Mail Sithole had said, " It (Crocodile Gang) was myself Enock Muteveri Sithole, James Dhlamini, Victor Mlambo, we were all from Chipinge. There was Nesbert Mapocha and One From China who came from Nyanyadzi and Furanai Masunda from Bikita."

However mawarire said, "This Enock Sithole is an impostor. He was not a member of the Crocodile Gang that operated in Melsetter, let alone its leader. The leader of the 5- member group was William Ndangana and the only surviving member is Amos Kademaunga who lives in Chinhoyi."

Mawarire said he interviewed Amos Kademaunga and his narrative is consistent with the court records.

"I had the privilege to interview Kademaunga and fact-checked his story with court records, File 6.4.9F No. 10665 in the case of Regina Vs James Dhlamini and Victor Mambo.

"The list of Crocodile Gang members is given in High court papers in the case of Regina vs James Dhlamini and Victor Mlambo charged with the murder of Pieter Johannes Andries Oberholtzer (File 64.9F No.10665)

"Court records show that the Crocodile Gang members were (1) William Ndangana who was deputy secretary of ZANU's youth league in Lusaka Zambia (2)James Dhlamini who was employed at Luxury Tearoom in Kitwe, Zambia (3) Victor Mlambo who worked in a Zambian mine (4) Amos Kademaunga who was a Zanu youth league member of Masala branch in Ndola and (5) Master Mazwani, who like Kademaunga, was a youth league member of the Masala branch in Ndola."

He added that Sithole is an imposter like Mnangagwa who claims to be a member of the crocodile gang.

"This Sithole guy, like Mnangagwa before him, is trying to claim leadership of the group."

Mnangagwa is Popularly known as "Garwe", or crocodile in Shona, after his days as a member of the 1960s Crocodile Gang that waged anti-colonial resistance acts against the white minority regime of the time.
