Minister of State Security in the Office of the President Owen Mudha Ncube has been fingered in the mine wrangle that is happening at Gaika gold mine in Kwekwe.

In a letter that is circulating on social media addressed to ZANU PF official Vongai Mupereri, Honourable Ncube says, "I acknowledge your letter dated 18 April 2019 regarding closure of the Gaika Mining Syndicate.

"Be advised that the national Joint Operations Command (JOC) was never mandated or ordered to close the mine. I have checked with the relevant authority on this issue.

"By way of this letter, the syndicate can resume its operations."
Former Mbizo parliamentarian Mupereri was recently ordered to report to Connemara Prison for contempt of court after an order witnessed by Chief Justice Luke Malaba  was reached when Mpereri defied a previous court order that ruled that he and the illegal invaders vacate Gaika gold mine.

The mine has been at the centre of controversy and protracted legal battles.

A number of deaths have been reported at the mine and it has been brought to the Midlands mining administrator's attention.

Mupereri has been making relentless efforts to retake control of the mine despite a subsisting court order.
