French actor 'Olivier Martinez' confirms engagement to Halle Berry

After a couple months of engagement rumor, the French actor Olivier Martinez has finally confirmed that he and the Oscar winner Halle Berry are engaged to marry, according to media reports on Tuesday.

"Yes, of course it's true," Martinez told the Miami Herald last weekend when he was in the town for the opening of his South Beach restaurant, Villa Azur.

Martinez also admitted that the engagement ring - first noticed in January 2012, was a gift from him and it was being designed by Robert Mazlo of Paris, who has been making jewelry for "kings and queens for many centuries."

"(It's) a one-of-a-kind piece and cannot be replaced," the jeweler Mazlo told People magazine exclusively. The ring's 4-carat emerald came from old, "closed-down mines in Muzo, Colombia and the color is perfect," he added.

The couple began to date in 2010, when they met co-starring in the film "Dark Tide".

Halle Berry, 45, has been married two times before - to baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, and to singer Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005. She has a 3-year-old daughter with Canadian model Gabriel Aubrey.
