Bulawayo-based international multi-discipline arts event, Intwasa Arts Festival, set to run later this year in September, is currently open to applications from artists who would like to perform or be part of the five-day event.

The eighth edition of the festival will run under the theme "Bulawayo Blooming" as it will be growing and opening up to new audiences, acts, artists and also embracing both the old and new and local and international acts.

It will be about encouraging interconnections between the arts, business and other sectors, growing new partnerships while strengthening old ones.

Intwasa director Raisedon Baya said the festival is a community-based initiative that has developed into a fully-fledged international festival and the focus at the moment is regional corporation and collaborations.

He said this year's festival would celebrate the beauty of colours gathering together in one city.

Baya said it would celebrate the blooming of life and business after the economic meltdown and global economic crisis of the past years.

He is hopefull that the corporate world will come in and support the festival.
