Zimplats faces total nationalisation

Zimplats may face total nationalisation if it does not meet Zimbabwe government's two week deadline for agreement on the value of a stake in the company, the Herald said in an editorial yesterday.

The Herald quoted Implats CEO David Brown as saying the Zimbabwean government would have to pay $0.5 - $1 billion for the 31% stake its is demanding in Zimplats.

The Herald said it said it was not clear if Mr Brown or his advisers had read the legislation governing the evaluation process in Zimbabwe.
