Newly formed political party, National Patriotic Front has written to the country's elections body formally introducing the organisation.

NPF interim leader, Retired Brigadier Ambrose Mutinhiri wrote to Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and notified the body of the party's intention to contest in the forthcoming harmonized elections.

"This is to notify that we, the National Patriotic Front, are a political party duly established by a constitution adopted by the founders of the party on December 7 2017 in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe.

"It is our intention, and indeed the objective of our party, to contest local, parliamentary and presidential elections as they constitutionally occur," Mutinhiri wrote to ZEC.

The party also expressed interest to participate in future meetings should the electoral body organize any. "In this connection, we avail ourselves, and we would be pleased to be invited, to participate in meetings for political parties which the commission periodically convenes," wrote NPF which is linked to disposed former president Robert Mugabe and his G40 allies.

Mutinhiri quit Zanu PF and resigned from parliament citing unconstitutional take over of government by the Zimbabwe Defense Forces which installed Emmerson Mutinhiri.
