Ndolwane Super Sounds splinter member Charles Ndebele has come up with a sizzling seven-track solo album, Azibuye Emasisweni, just a few months after the break-up with group leader Martin Sibanda.

The latest offering was released at a colourful ceremony held over the weekend at a local pub in the city.

In his latest album, Ndebele draws together different listeners as he belts out his tracks in five languages namely Ndebele, Tswana, Venda, Shona and Kalanga.

This is Charles' first project after the group's split a few months ago due to several differences.

In an interview, the South Africa-based artiste said he decided to go into the studio due to public demand, as his former mate seemed to be doing well.

"I did not want to act as if I am competing but it is the people who saw more of Martin on the local scene and thought I was out of the game but I decided to surprise them with this new album.

I will not quit music, neither will I leave Ndolwane Super Sounds. I am among the founder-members and I cannot let go a band I helped to build," said the upbeat Ndebele.

He said he was working on establishing local offices in the city as he plans to stage more shows in the country during the year.

The co-founder of the group has also come up with a brand name, Amangwe 1.

Ndolwane Super Sounds made headlines recently after the sudden and unexpected split between Ndebele and Sibanda, the leaders of the group.

Following the split, the duo shared the brand name, band members and instruments.

Ndebele's latest piece, which was recorded in Harare at Shed Studios, features a number of interesting tracks that would surely bring back memories of the group during its heyday.

Some of the tracks to look forward to on the album are Idlozi Lami, Inhlelo Zami, and Amasiko, Umthwakazi, Usemncane, Amasiko Part Two, the title track Azibuye Emasisweni and Mfowethu, a tribute to his late cousin and co-founder Absalom Ndebele.

Absalom passed on in 2007 in a tragic accident along the Bulawayo-Harare highway while on his way to attend Last Fatiya's funeral who was also a band member.

The title track Azibuye Emasisweni bemoans cultural erosion in the country and calls upon the elders to instill values in the youth so as to preserve traditional values.

The track Idlozi Lami tackles the role of ancestral spirits in our day-to-day lives. In this track, Ndebele says sometimes people go way too far in trying to appease the ancestors but to no avail.

The group, which hails from Ndolwane area in Bulilima, Matabeleland South Province, was founded in 1993. It has over the years established itself as a force to reckon with in the music industry in this part of the country and in Johannesburg where it is still based.

It became popular through such albums as Kulindawo, Zambani Likaphondo, Africa, Qiniso and Sunduza, among others, and their last offering, Zethembe, was in 2009.
